[yes, please, discuss dividing loot in the character creation thread. I like to think of that thread as the everything else thread. Although if you all wish to discuss dividing the loot in character, then continue on here, but in character please. Also apologies for my delayed replies, had a few real life issues but they should be resolved now and we can be back to at least one post a day from me.]

You scour the chapel Cadmus, poking through the walls around the candles, trying to move any cobblestone that seems to have some give to it until you have a closer look at the seat in front of the organ, now demolished by Skreed. It seems a bit rickety despite it's solid appearance (Looks like a solid square of wood) so you tap on a side with your mace. To your surprise (Or expectation due to your canny eye) it caves in revealing a compartment inside.

There isn't much in there, just a stone, in a rectangle shape. It appears to have symbols etched deeply on all the long sides, symbols that tickle the back of your memory but remain elusive to your understanding. [item is 12in by 3in by 3inches. Quite the heft to it but able to be taken if wished, 10lbs]

Gradard.... [I am sorry but you need to have a look at the rules regarding copying spells into your book] you have a look at the madman's spell book and it looks indecipherable to you. Until you start to recognize some of the notation. This may take some time you consider and learn his writing. [2 hours per spell per level. So a level 1 spell is 2 hours to copy, level 2 spell 4 hours etc.] You also realize you came without any of the reagents or precious inks with which to copy and learn the spells. [this refers to the cost of learning the spell as well. 50g per spell per level. All this is on page 114 of the players handbook]. You can however pocket the book and learn them when the time and resources permit.

Retracing your steps you return back to the village...where you see.... The rats... Everywhere, in the cavern, especially on and around the huge trash pile at the far end.

Skreed has a bad feeling about this. He bellows Jyratis' name and takes a few cautious steps forward in the general direction of the trash pile to see how these rats respond.

"Well, they did mention that they were on good terms with the rats, that their allies had been turned from them. I guess we should not be surprised to see them return to their favored midden." Cadmus strides through the village, re-casting his light spell upon his holy symbol and cupping it in his palm, directing the light before the group.

A rat, as large as a medium sized dog crosses your path Skreed. It looks at you without fear, cocking it's head.... Listening... You realise it's eyes are of a natural color. It stares at you seemingly waiting for your action.

As you walk among the village Cadmus you finally notice the human [or mostly] inhabitants. They were there all the time, however their movements flow slow-er and smoother than the hurried scurrying of the rats that caught your eyes. Some of the smaller rats scurry out of the way, otherwise many of them just continue to go about their business, stopping occasionally to sniff in the parties direction before moving on.

Brennic picks his way forwards, deeply concious that treading on a rat would be, bad. He wonders what sort of mess he is found himself in and wishes he were back at the school, where things were simpler for him.

Cadmus moves to the center of the village, presumably near Jyratis' hut. He turns to face the citizens as best as he can locate them in the dim light.

"Folk of this village, we have defeated the madman who wrested the minds of your rats to violence and evil! Know this: while you live in a fashion that I do not share, hidden here from the holy light of the sun as you are, the love and protection of the sun-god is no less for you! Should you ever feel the touch of evil that would harm or enslave you, come to us, those who serve mighty Pelor, and we shall work to aid and protect you!"

Cadmus steps back, covering his holy symbol to quash the light into dim radiance for he and his companions, before making his way once more to Jyratis' home. He calls out softly, "Jyratis? We have returned in victory! You need concern yourself with the madman behind your troubles no more!"

Skreed continues to move cautiously toward the trash pile, intent on inspecting what these rodents seem so attracted to (But trying to avoid stepping on any of them for now). He will alter his course if Jyratis or the young girl are found or heard to respond to the group's calls.

The Repentant Soldier says...

Alexi follows the others scanning the village nervously trying his best not to step on any of the rats and to not recoil in disgust at the sight of them swarming the area. He holds back the urge to strike at the rats as his first instinct is that they are somehow attacking the village, but seeing his companions restraint he assumes that they do not share in his perception of the situation and so he simply follows quietly, maintaining his vigilance at the rear of the party.
