Alexi reaches into the chest and grabs a handful of coin. Bringing his hand up he lets the slip through the fingers of his gauntlet a few at a time then opens his hand and drops the remaining coin back into the chest. He plucks the blood stone out of the chest next, holds it up and inspects it for a moment, and then drops this back into the chest as well.
"Should cover a few meals" he says as he looks around the cave taking it in. Walking over to Aerendyl as he crouches near the obelisk Alexi observes the stone but doesn't touch it. When Aerendyl asks Gradard about it, Alexi looks to their small companion as well.
Out of Character: : Is Alexi able to discern the approximate number of goblins that may have called the cave home? Would the number of bedrolls present indicate that there may be more goblins in the area, or does it pretty much match up with the ones we have encountered already?
Brennic gives the chest's contents a cursory glance.
"Gems. Where did those monsters get them from? Is it possible they mined them from here?"
Since there is a possibility that there may be some of the little horrors returning Brennic will keep an eye out for them while they wait here.".

The number of bedrolls do indeed match up with the number of goblins (And other) that you have already come across.
Aerendyl, looking closely at the two stones you start to notice striking similarities between the two sets of runes, however none of the "Words" seem to be on both stones, if anything the smaller one (In your hands) looks like one of each Rune, rather than "Words".
Out of Character:
This might sound pedantic, but if you want to dismantle something Gradard, that typically means to take it apart. Maybe you should have tried to pick the lock instead. But regardless for your roll you still managed to take it apart, due to your 20+ roll. (Oh and sleight of had for lockpicking/tinkering like this next time).

Returning to the rear of the cave satisfied that the adventurers are alone in it and any intruders/returning goblins may spring his trap, Skreed regards the runed fixture in the room with concern. He offers to take first watch if the party intends to camp there for the night and when the time comes will take his rest as far as he can physically get from the altar (Or whatever it is).
While on his watch, Skreed looks around for the horn the goblins sounded mainly out of curiosity.
You half-heartedly you kick the filthy bedding in the room Skreed. Pushing it around a little nothing turns up except for a couple of mice flung clear from the bedding by your kick.
You barely notice the mice flying past your back Gradard as you study the two stones (I rolled you with advantage for this result due to your sage background). You start to have an inkling of what the runes might be.... Existing mellinea before Aerocion was even a concept, these runes predate any records you have ever come across. In your studies you have come across mention of such runes, only in passing, and not even any drawings or copies of such runes.
Your thoughts continue until you are startled to realise that you never learn't this much previously.... It is as if the stones are feeding you this information.
They are markers, telling the history of the world, detailing the sudden creation of the first age, something thought lost in myth and legend. You 'hear' that this history is still being recorded even now, and will do past the lives of everyone currently alive today.
Jerking upwards as if by some unknown force you stare at the top runes of the large stone...You can understand the first line of runes now. They read: "Help is needed to preserve continuity...Will you help?" (You get the feeling that the 'you' is plural, meaning the group)
All of you can read this(Just the top line), if you are looking in the direction, the runes just seem to make sense....translating for your brains for you all, despite not moving or changing on the stone.
