Brain Teasers

I am not great at these but a post in the games section told me I know some here are so go ahead and give these a try.

This a math question

Super Skateboards

Alec, Brett, and Chris each purchased parts for their skateboards at the sports store. Alec and Brett wanted to build new skateboards, so they each needed to purchase a deck, trucks, bearings, and wheels. Chris needed new wheels only. The store offers a 10% discount for purchases over $250, so the boys decided to pay for all the parts together to qualify for the discount. Altogether, the boys spent $266.40.
The clues below reflect the price of the items before the discount is applied.

* The combined cost of all the bearings for the 2 boys was $1 more than the deck for Alec's skateboard.
* They each bought the same kinds of wheels. Altogether, they spent $75 for the 3 sets of wheels. Each set contained 4 wheels.
* The total cost of the bearings came to $24 less than the total cost of the wheels.
* Alec spent $5 more for his deck than Brett spent for his. However, Brett spent $5 more on trucks than Alec.
* Brett spent $3 more on bearings than twice the amount Alec spent on bearings.

What was the total amount each spent after the 10% discount?

Now for some more unscientific left brain exercise

1. A woman tries to drop her husband into the ocean, but he blows back into the boat. Why?

2. A man wakes up and sees that his brother is dead. Though they are alone in a quiet room, he immediately realizes that he will be dead soon too. How does he know this?

3. Why did running out of gas save Jacks life?

4. A married couple went to a movie and the husband strangled the wife during the show. How was he able to get her body home without attracting attention?

5. A man was doing his job when his clothing tore. Why was he dead ten seconds later?

6. Why was the man able to pass three cars going 70 miles-per-hour, while he was going only 60 miles-per-hour?

7. A man woke up in the middle of the night and turned off the light. Ten people died as result. Why?

8. A man saw a large goose through while looking out the window. Why were both he and the goose soon dead?

9. A woman was on an elevator. When it stopped, and the lights went out, she began to cry, knowing that her husband was dead. How did she know?

10. A man was pushed out of an airplane, without a parachute. How was he able to survive?

11. A woman bought new shoes, and shortly afterward died from a knife-wound. Why?

Just post answers to the math question and I will post the solution later in a day or so.

For the other questions we can do them this way post if you know the solution to them other wise we will work through them and I will answer yes no questions for them starting with question one. close enough does count.
