How does one go about finding out the True Age Of A House?

If you have access to the county assesors office or if you look at your purchase papers for the house it will tell you the year your house was built. This will give you your houses true age. Some may say that a well maintained house is less than its true age and a badly maintained house is more then its true age. I believe a house is al old as it is by looking at the day it was built.

Some times the toilet lid is a nice spot to check as it has a date stamped on it and the house will not be much younger then the toilet if built in the last 20ish years.

I agree with the idea that the house is only as old as the maintenance was bad. I have seen home well into the hundred years and are a better buy then any thing new as they have been upgraded as the years

But the local registration office or city hall can tell you when it was built. Just need the street address.
