Candy sees the cute guy move, so her heart beats quickly wondering if he is going to come over and say something but she becomes dumbfounded when he sits next to the hooker.
Nudging Krusten back, "Are you seeing what I'm seeing? You have two chicks like us and he wants to sit next to the one that looks like she needs some redemption!"
Candy's face turns to one of annoyance as though she is supposed to feel rejected about the last minute. She sighs, shakes her head and occasionally looks over to see what they are doing.
She nudges Krusten again, "Maybe he's looking for a freebie..." She laughs.
Malcolm notices the hushed conversation between the two friends, which seems to make the Lady, Alyson nervous. Patting Alyson on the arm to let her know everything is all right, Malcolm stands up and walks the few rows to two ladies from the bar.
Squating down so that both ladies can see him, he pulls his necklace from under his sweat shirt, displays his police badge, then puts it back.
"I am detective Malcolm Shaw. As a servant of the people, I work to maintain the peace. And right now that is keeping Ms Alyson back there from getting arrested and maybe, just maybe changing her life's direction. Your comments aren't helping any."
"While you both are very attractive, now is not the time and place I would choose for a first date or a social hour."
With that Malcolm stands, extracts from his pant's pocket a slim silver metal case and extracts two business cards. Handing one to each of the two friends, Malcolm nods to each one, "Enjoy your evening ladies."
Malcolm promptly returns to the seat next to Alyson, apologizes for leaving during their discussion, and picks up their discussion of Alyson's choices leading up to the present.
Candy is shocked, her eyes opened wide, not by the fact that she now knows the man is a police officer but by his more than obvious way of thinking that she would want to 'date' him after his disclosure.
She turns to Krusten with an astonished face,
"What the hell was that? How did he even know what we were saying, does he have super hearing or something?"
George watches as the police officer approaches the two ladies he talked to earlier and then head back over to the prostitute. By the look of surprise on their faces he thinks that they may not have liked what he said to them.
He just goes back to watching what is going on now.
Krusten is gobsmacked. Then after about 30 seconds she realizes that its not that much of a shock since the man was very active from the start so it should be expected. She does take exception to doing something wrong. As far as she was concerned its a free country and she could talk, laugh or cry if she wanted. She looks at Candy and rolls her eyes shaking her head in the process.
Candy still has a face of bewilderment about what just happened. She looks at Krusten,
'Wait are we taking that? I mean just because he's a cop doesn't give him the right to speak to us like that does it?"
Malcolm looks at the two women and shakes his head. Guess it is only while he is in the line of duty that he can carry on a decent conversation with women.
Shaking his head he turns back to Alyson, lets her know that he is grateful that she has goals, and continues encourage her to look at other life options.
