Derrick Hooker Murder Case
I knew Derrick Hooker through affiliation with a church group. He was a WASA manager, family man and big church goer. He was a big helper for those in need. According to TV6 News, Hooker was confronted by a gunman who shot him at point blank range. Hooker was returning from the grocery with his teenage son when he was shot. The gunman tried to shoot the son but he dodged the bullets. On the way to the hospital Hooker was able to whisper somethings to those that carried him. This may be related to Hooker's job where it is alleged some persons wanted to be part of a list for payment for work not (Ghost jobs) carried out and a hit was placed on him. Condolences to family and friends.

On the TV6 News they gave more insight into this case. Derrick Hooker apparently had death threats made against him weeks before this and some of these came at WASA where Mr. Hooker, who had a reputation of a no nonsense leader, was not giving in to persons wanting to make alleged illegal money. Therefore, it is likely police may have a good idea of those who perpetrated the act.
TV6 Featured the funeral of Derrick Hooker today. The cameras were not allowed inside the church out of respect for the family's wishes but showed the overflow crowds that were outside and even spilled unto the streets. WASA management has said that they lost one of their best workers.
