Joseph nods at the professor. "In fact, I think you're on my list for next semester, if you're going to be teaching Folklore of the United States again.
I think what we can do is look in places the cops can't or won't. We can do things that don't require warrants; we can talk to people who might not talk to a cop. Am I right?"
Looking at TJ, "Your unit was tasked with escorting civilians to some of the cave systems in the southern section of Afghanistan. I was in charge of that group. And I am in a position now to disclose the information I gathered there as it bears relevance now."
Pausing for a moment, as the waitress sets down some tea, Lau turns to the waitress and says thank you in Arabic.
"Joe, if we can uncover the hidden secrets associated with these cases, you won't need my class next semester."
With that, he pulls from the portfolio a map of the city, a sketch book, and several photos.
Several of the photos are collages of what appears to be a dead body, the same individual from public records, and some random group shots with an individual circled in red. These collaged photos are labeled with names, addresses, and dates. The remaining photos are of symbols, some are painted on cave walls, others on walls of modern dwellings, and the others are painted near dead bodies.
The labeled photos Lau places around the map, followed by the modern dwelling symbols. With that, Lau sits down and sips his tea. "These are the details the police are hiding and don't want you to see."
***okay, GM back in***
Going to make a ruling, there may be a similarity between the non-Arkham pictures, but it is very open to subjective interpretation if it is the same. Similarly, GM ruling ,the mission specifics of what you were in charge of represents only a small part of TJ's tour of duty, and there was no point where you and he were directly in the same chain of command.***
Among the local information Lau spreads out, the approximate times of day of each death, and the day and date are listed. Each death has an identical symbol, a yellow sigil on the wall nearest the body. The deaths all occurred between nine pm and one am, two happened inside buildings (One a home, and one a twenty four hour gym). Joseph's mother was the one killed inside a home (Not her home, one belonging, strangely enough, to one of the earlier victims.) The victims are listed below in the order of their deaths.
Joseph DiGrado
Charles 'Chuck' Stephan (His house was where Angela was found)
John Coakley
Angela Reeves (Joseph's foster mother)
Dennis Parker (The gym victim)
Russ Locasio
Incidentally, the disappearances are listed in a separate listing, the dates all occurring between the deaths of Coakley and Parker, a period of approximately two weeks. Another noteworthy thing about the disappearances is that they all occurred in a smaller area, closer to the river). These people are
Mary Nolte
Brian D'Amico
John Reed
Gary Crossley
The photographs only show the bodies covered by blankets or outlines of their bodies, but it is noted that there are, in all of the cases, heavy trauma to the torso, and description of the wounds indicating it is more likely to be claw marks or weapons designed to resemble claw marks, and most of the internal organs (But not all of them) removed. More strangely, it is noted that almost no blood was found at any of the death sites.
Notes on the victims' respective past indicates the killing victims were all at some point over the prior ten years involved with some abnormal investigation into peculiar phenomenon, one involving Parker, Reeves and Stephan occurring in Arkham and Boston, the others not occurring inside Massachusetts, but the police in the respective jurisdictions had notified the Arkham police as they were all Arkham residents. Similar to your own situation, none of the victims were investigated as participants in the peculiar phenomenon, but the notes also indicate that their involvement in the resolutions was a matter to be kept 'off the books' as much as possible.
(DiMaio, this information about your foster mother is a total surprise, you had never had any inclination of her being involved in anything of note during your time with her.)
Konrad looks away from the photos at first, but he suppresses his reflex and picks up a photo of the symbol. He compares two side by side, shrugs, and places them back down.
"Impressive haul," Konrad starts. "But it just begs more questions. These details about the missing organs and lack of blood are disturbing yet intriguing."
"It seems clear to me that the gym would be our best option to investigate. But it's probably cordoned off and the police would be interviewing witnesses and reviewing security cameras."
"For what it's worth... This notes they were all involved in investigating abnormal phenomena. I'd say they found something. Or something found them.." He looks at the two students in turn. "I just want to be clear. This looks like it could get dangerous. If you decide to leave now, no one will say anything. There's no obligation on the part of anyone here. But if you're in... Well, finding out what they were looking for would be helpful. And I agree, a look at the sites themselves may turn up something. We won't have time to do that before we meet Redman tonight, but we can at least start planning what we need to do."
