Blood Type Diet

What are your thoughts about this kind of diet?

The blood type diet is a diet advocated by Peter D'Adamo and outlined in his book Eat Right 4 Your Type. Its basic premise is that ABO blood type is the most important factor in determining a healthy diet.

From all that I have read about this diet, is that the research is really bogus. There is some correlation between blood type and the digestive system but it seems relatively insignificant. If this really would be important you would think that only a particular blood group would thrive as vegetarians/vegans raw foodist etc and yet you can find vegetarians thriving on their diets representing all blood types. It's a good sales gimmick in my opinion. Whenever I talk to nurses and other so called experts they never truly have researched this diet themselves and just parrot what they read in a book.

It was interesting to read a major study on all of the well know diets. The conclusion predictably was this: You want to lose weight: exercise and eat healthy.
Eat fresh fruit and probably increase your veggie intake, add more salads and you will do well. And eliminate soda's, french fries, donuts etc. They are not really "food" anyway.

I think there is some merit to what they say. Look at your heritage and the types of foods they would have had at hand and you might be able to digest them better. This does not promote weight lose but helps you burn what you eat and feel better. I am with Robert exercise is the real key with a balanced diet.

Yes, there is some merit to this but for the most part I think it is just a bunch of blabbering. Real dieting is eating right and exercising. If you go by foods that your ancestors ate you may not be eating healthy but you would be eating what they had available. Remember trade was very popular and they may have had more than you realize. The best bet is just make sure your output is greater than your input. smile.gif
