God is real: fact, opinion or assertion? Texas students had to answer
Jordan Wooley, a 7th grader in Houston, Texas, said this week that her teacher at West Memorial Junior High School recently gave a class assignment that asked students to say that God didn’t exist, according to KHOU. Ref. Source 1f
It's true, at the end of the day it all comes down to your perspective in all things. Since religion is simply just a system of man to give those who seek the meaning of life some purpose; I believe that if you truly want to find the answer, it lies within yourself. You make the discovery, research and perhaps even form your own evidence to find out what is the truth or not about God's existence.
Okay, putting aside how the existence of God or a higher power is debated, I feel that question was completely inappropriate to have on a school assignment. As even if the teacher personally felt believe in god was merely an opinion, to try and force that on her students was unexceptionable. Especially since it appears this was a public school, where in such I feel it would be wrong to try and force the belief of God on their students as well.
Whatever the purpose of the assignment, the school and teacher should have realized the assignment would have caused issues. Though I am thankful the school board was willing to hear the girl out and remove the assignment.
I like to think that their is a God. I don't believe some of the bible but I think their is some truth to it. It's all about having faith, honestly. Plus with all the mysterious things that happen in our world and others, their has to be some type of God.
