In Character: Enerii leans back in his chair in the common room after the Impys cut out. "Welcome to lovely Ruie. See the sights. Get your ass shot off. Then get the hell out. IF you can..." He sips his kaff thoughtfully.

The Referee relays...

The space port on Ruie is located on a small island situated near the middle of a large lake approximately twenty miles from the mainland in all directions. It is an internationally funded port overseen by a community of the worlds more industrialized nations (Similar to the old Terran United Nations). The structure is very similar to an airport with various terminals and gates as well as an area containing various small shops, restaurants, etc. The Wildcard is currently docked at Gate 14 in Terminal C. Passengers and cargo are unloaded on a large concrete tarmac and the passengers are led by a steward to nearby terminal building. The island also contains various warehouses and distribution centers as well as a maritime dock for cargo ships to transport goods to and from the port. There is a runway for cargo and passenger planes as well.

The steward, a tall middle aged blonde man, congratulates Doc after he finishes counting the passengers "One hundred percent survival on this trip...well done" he tells Doc before turning to escort the passengers away. There are armed guards stationed throughout the port, armed with slug rifles and pistols. In order to enter the terminal you will need to go past a pair of guards manning a metal detector, anyone obviously wearing body armor will be searched for weapons as well before they are allowed to enter.

Maiokus finds that the space port's tech level does not support a "Network" (Think 1970's technology). There is no internet service or world wide web although the ship's comm system can be connected to the phone network for a fee of 25cr. And an additional 5cr. Per call made. You are also able to tap into various television signals (This you are able to do without paying a hookup fee since they still operate generally with frequencies transmitted over the air waves).

There is a merchants liaison's office located in the space port. Hiring a basic liaison (Admin-1; Diplomat-0) would cost 100cr. Per eight hour day, a more experienced liaison (Admin-2; Diplomat-1) costs 300Cr. A day and the best available (Admin-3; Diplomat-3) would run 1,000cr. Per day.

There is also a 25cr. Per day docking fee.

*Note to Ref - any details regarding the lab and facility that we need to infiltrate? Or is that a computers test?

Silvertongue holds back before disembarking.

Out of Character: : I am suggesting the level 2 liason for a week. Docking fees for a week. Patch into both television signals and phone line.

Rebel over...

Out of Character: : Silvertongue - Sounds fine in outline. Let's see if we can get some idea about who to hire first. I'll try talking to the Stevedores. See what you can find out?

Also the local attitude to this compound - it might be suspicious/illegal to try to get it.

In Character: :

Once Doc Shuth has revived the last passenger Njall goes to help with the cargo unloading. He tries to strike up conversation with the dockers doing the work, and also get a feel for how much the process is being monitored - what level of security, paranoia surrounds the ground-crew and cargo?

While talking with the workers Njall will try to sound them out on the topic of Liaison officers - something on the lines of "We're looking to pick up another cargo, some passengers. Told we need a local Liaison guy. Heard about other ships getting into trouble here, don't want to one of them. Anyone you can recommend? Who should we avoid?"

Streetwise 1 is my guess, though I have Persuade 1 if that's more appropriate. Silvertongue may be working to the same end, if so I'll take my roll as attempting to assist his efforts ( he is the professional ):

Njall Nail Lang Results:
  • Streetwise on D6 (+0): 1, 5 (2 rolls)

This is Kanin, over...

"Well...this keeps getting better and better...a level2 Liason is probably the best value for money. I can check the maps of Ruie I downloaded from Regina network (Sensors check). I miss my drop pod days, so much simpler to get to your destination...", says Krakreft as he checks the cargo getting unloaded by (Manned) cargo loaders.

The Referee relays...

010-1115
1900hrs

Njall spends the next two hours (Between 1900-2100hrs) assisting with the unloading of the cargo, talking to the workers and casually looking around trying to spot potential surveillance. Most cargo handlers do not seem to be much interested in conversation with Njall as they go go about the daily grind of their task. In response to your question about finding Liason officers one of the workers points out that there is a Merchant Liaison Office and gives you directions on how to get there.

"I heard about some tramp trader getting confiscated by the Ruie Global Trade Coalition a while back, but I couldn't tell you why. Maybe they were smuggling contraband, I don't know" a short stocky worker with a slight drawl tells Njall "As far as people to avoid...well, there's plenty of those, depends on why you're here on Ruie I suppose."

Out of Character: :
Njall
What you are describing in talking with the dock workers I think fits fairly well with Streetwise, I think persuade would be more related to trying to convince them to do something or haggling with someone over prices. Carouse might also work, but to spot danger, surveillance, or someone being out of place would probably be a Recon (Intelligence) roll (5,2=7).

The Ruie Global Trade Coalition is the international organization that operates the space port

Krakrefr
The maps that are available are a couple of years old and odds are good that many of the political boundaries have changed in that time, but at the time that the last survey was made you can see there are over 200 nations/political boundaries scattered throughout the planet which is made up of approximately 60% water and four major land masses/continents. What is it that you are using the maps for? Are you trying to locate potential production facilities? If that is the case you can roll a Sensors (Intelligence or Education) check in order to analyse and interpret the data received.
