Looking at comms: TL12 Transceiver is Computer/0 rated, Cr.500.
"Specialised Computer: A computer can be designed for a specific purpose, which gives it a rating of 1 or 2 higher for that program only...costs 25% more per added rating.
And:
Security software
Security programs defend against intrusion
0 TL 7 Included 0 is Average (+0 Dungeon Master)
1 TL 9 Cr. 200 Difficult (–2 Dungeon Master) difficulty
2 TL 11 Cr. 1,000 Very Difficult (–4 Dungeon Master)difficulty"
So encrypted comms are a specialised computer mod on the basic transceiver? A Rating 2 device Cr.750, the software another Cr. 1000?

Right, so I stand corrected in that the comms would have Security/0 so basic encryption available. What you would have would actually be a personal comm unit at Tech Level 10 which has computer/1. You could purchase Security/1 for the comm units at 200cr. Each but if you wanted greater encryption you would need to purchase a specialized hand held comm unit at 25% greater cost (625cr.) and then purchase the security program for it; 1,000cr for Security/2 or 20,000cr for security/3. At least that's how I interpret things.

Trying to keep table-talk off the main page(S):
As far as I can see we have no Steward skills, and no luxuries to replace one, so no middle or high passengers. Maybe later on we can acquire a robot steward ( or hire a Trolley-Dolly ).
Njall, Maiokus and Silvertongue have Streetwise.
I'm happy to roll for Low Passengers if Maiokus and Silvertongue are busy.
Njall has Cr. 10,000 to put towards cargo purchase if something comes up.
I am in conversation with Doctor Crane, or Silvertongue would join you in securing passengers and freight.
I am trying to locate the cost for the rebreather mask and the tactical binos.
Are we stillneeding to purchase the Security for Comms?
Breather Mask (TL 8): Combines the filter and respirator into a single package. Cr. 150.
( But I already paid for 6 of those )
Binoculars (TL 3): Allows the user to see further. 1 kg, Cr. 75.
At TL 8 electronic enhancement allows images to be captured; light intensification allows them to be used in the dark. Cr 750.
At TL12 PRIS (Portable Radiation Imaging System) allows the user to observe a large section of the EM-spectrum, from infrared to gamma rays. Cr 3,500.
Secure comms seem like something we would need, but we probably don't need 6 secure sets. I've paid for 2 transceivers, I'll upgrade them to security-grade and put Cr.200 systems on them. I'd prefer the Cr. 1000, but that's a little high for now. A decent security software package for the ship wouldn't hurt though.

Ah never mind disregard last post. I realized it is automatically in place in all GM notes on character sheets.
