There are many Iowa veterans I am one of them. We have many service organizations that try to help the veterans get the help they need. But with all veterans many slip through the cracks. I try to talk to veterans that I know of meet to make sure they are getting the care and the services they should from the VA and send them to some of the service organizations so they know there are people in place to help them get through the VA red tape.

‘I knew something was not right’: Mass cancellations of diagnostic test orders at VA hospitals draw scrutiny. When a patient arrived for a CT scan at the Iowa City VA hospital last year, radiology technologist Jeff Dettbarn said he noticed something amiss: the doctor's order for the test had been canceled. At VA hospitals across the country, more than 250,000 of radiology orders have been canceled since 2016 in a rush to clear out overdue orders for exams such as CT scans and MRIs, raising questions about whether correct procedures were followed to ensure veterans didn’t still need the exams. The VA inspector general is now investigating cancellations at nine agency hospitals, including in Iowa City. Source 8w.

This is the stuff that really makes me hot under the collar. We signed up to serve our country and then we have to put up with things like this because the VA wants to look good on paper and say they are serving us. Well I hate to say it but the VA is not serving us veterans very well if at all. Granted if we are in there under emergency conditions we get seen. If we walk in under our own power we find tests and other routine appointments cancelled or rescheduled without telling us. Thus we waste our time and gas getting there and I can tell you the VA will not reimburse us for the time and money wasted. I hope something gets done to correct this issue here in Iowa and across the nation in our VA hospitals.
