Yes I understand and I also wish we had more good gun wielding people in the public who could possibly stop things like this from happening in the first place. The police and other good guys are a reactionary force not a preventive force.

I say that same thing about the police. They are there to investigate. Although they are sometimes in the right place at the right time I think that's the exception rather than the norm. We are all responsible for protecting ourselves and should be able and trained to do so.

I was a police officer in the military for 9.5 years I know they are a reactionary force. Yes they can not be everywhere at once.
This is why I believe the US is going about it all wrong on the gun issue but that is for another thread. People react to gun fire by running away or getting under cover. The foolish ones are the ones trying to whip out their cell phones and video it all. I am just trying to help people understand to take cover hide and wait in a safe locked place if they can.

I understand. I know folks that aren't trained are at a decided disadvantage. It's just so frustrating to me. I remember back to the people in the plane that went down in PA. Of course, those people had time to plan and there isn't much in a shooting situation. At that point it's all about OODA.

I love how they blame the gun in these mass shootings and the "Ease" of how people can get guns. Well it is not that easy to get a gun if you are not a criminal element. Law abiding citizens have a hard time getting guns to protect themselves.

Now if you want to end school shooting then stop the bullying in the schools. Simple answer but no one will admit that it is the bullying that goes on in middle (Jr high) or high school that is the root cause of all these school mass shootings.

All schools say they have anti-bullying policies and enforce them but I keep seeing and reading about students who are bullied are they ones that get punished as the ones who bully keep right doing it. This bullying is the root cause of most mass shootings in the US.
