You have to change your tanks and fuel system. Talk to your local taxi company I bet they have some suggestions as may run propane or natural gas. But do not do the dual fuel system they do not work well.
Cost I bet 3 to 5 thousand. I have heard the motor runs longer. I have heard people say that they are glad and some say never again. I bet it depends on the skill of the mechanic doing it. Perhaps we should see if there is a theard on this or start one.
What really bogles my mind is the fact that the american car companies are making vehicles that ruin on straight ethanol for Brazil. In brazil they have been using their own produced ethanol for a long time now. Why can not the american people get their hands on these vehicles? Why can not the american people get their hands on some of the european cars that get much better gas milage? Does our government want us to be burdened by high gas prices forever?
I thought that my memory was not failing me. I do remember back in the 80's that there were many cars that had gas milage in the 30 per gallon range, so I did a little studying.
Check out the '85 Honda Civic...all 1.3L of it...but it was 4 doors and rolled:

Well I am glad to see that I am not just alone and delusional as I have been complaining about this exact issue for 15 years. Yes in the early 90's many low power cars were on the road they were no more then 4 wheels and a motor but worked well and did very well on gas. Chev seemed to me to be and still is slightly better overall for mileage n north american cars.
Honda did well and Toyota till they opened plants here and started North Americanizing their cars.
Nissian also did the same thing.
Ford has 3 cylinder desil is ford escorts in Europe the car manufacturers just throw up their arms and say well they just do not meet north american standards for pollution.
I suspect those who have the real power to change this are making a profit from the sell of oil. There is no other good reason for the technology not to be used other wise as a more effecient motor produces less emmissions. So does a lower horse pwer motor.
I think it is a conspiracy of the auto makers and the oil companies to keep us cow tied to their view of the world and how things stand. I know that americans are driving a lot less now than before. Maybe if this trend continues it will be a wake up call for them.
Have you noticed the huge rebates and incentives the car companies are now giving to people to buy the gas guzzling SUVs and trucks?
I wouldn't consider buying a truck with the price of fuel as high as it is at the moment.
We have a people carrier with 8 seats, that once people would have given their right arm for,(not for what it is, but the amount of seats) now the prices have dropped so dramatically I know for sure that we will get a lot less for it this year than we would have got for it this year...because everybody is feeling the pinch financially.
