As Florida death toll from Irma rises to 34, a public health crisis looms. A crisis is feared as families have spent days in the mud, mold and water left by Hurricane Irma's storm surge, which destroyed hundreds of Florida homes. Ref. USAToday.
There is the possibility of another category 4-5 storm hitting the area again later on this week. It is not taking the same path of Irma but it looks like it will still effect some of the hard hit areas again. I know this is not good news for the recovery efforts.
KN,
It's close to the same path. I just heard where the next one may hit the Atlantic side of the peninsula and bring flooding rains with it. That is bad news for Florida. They've been lucky for a long time not getting hit by any hurricanes and now it appears nature is trying to make up for lost time.
So now the next one, Maria, is up to a Cat 4 and it is bearing down for full strike on Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico sustained some pretty major damage from Irma and now another strike. This will be very bad for them, especially if it maintains its strength.
