Is America For Sale?
Budweiser may sell out to a Brazilian firm, top historic places in New York are being bought by other foreign businesses and many other industries are being taken over by external buyers. The US dollar is weak and US citizens are slowing their spending with high gas / oil prices. What is happening to the US, will it collapse under a global market?

The buying of these large companies by foreign investors is going to end up impacting America the short time nothing will change but over time things are bound to change. I believe that right now America is up for sale. Unless some more people stand up and demand a change the change we get will not please a lot.

U.S. brewer Anheuser-Busch accepted a sweetened $50 billion takeover bid from Belgium-based InBev, creating the world's largest beer maker. InBev, which makes Stella Artois and Beck's, agreed to pay $70 per share for the maker of Budweiser, up from its original unsolicited bid of $65 per share, both companies said on Monday. This deal, which is widely expected to gain regulatory approval, would be the largest in the industry and the third-largest ever foreign takeover of a U.S. company. The combined company will have about $36.4 billion in annual net sales and brew about a quarter of the world's beer. The beer industry is undergoing a wave of consolidation, with Scottish & Newcastle agreeing to be broken up by Carlsberg and Heineken, and SABMiller and Molson Coors Brewing agreeing to merge their U.S. operations. Based on Anheuser's 713 million shares outstanding as of March 31, the deal values the company at $50 billion. The companies pegged the price tag of the deal at $52 billion, but did not elaborate on what that value reflected. InBev's Chief Executive Carlos Brito will be CEO of the combined company, which will be called Anheuser-Busch InBev. Anheuser will get two seats on the new company's board. Anheuser's home town of St. Louis, Missouri, will be the headquarters for the North American region and the global home of the flagship Budweiser brand. The companies said all of Anheuser U.S. breweries would remain open. |

I am not sure if this is a new thread, but I do think that the sale of A&B might not be as wonderful as InBev thinks. Of course, the markets will be opened and that will help both companies. The consumption and of course the elimination of duplicate jobs will also help the bottom line. However, Budweiser and Bud Light are huge with the NASCAR crowd and they are VERY loyal to American Products. It is a major consumer of the A&B product. I really dont see this group embracing the change of management. That 50% of the US market that A&B had might shrink now that it is foreign owned.
The new "King of American Beers" is the Boston Brewing Co (Samuel Adams) then Yuengling followed by Sierra Nevada. All fine beers...

I have drank Dud beers for many many years because it was an American owned company. I will finish my last case and then switch to another beer. I do not buy very many things that are owned by a foreign company. I try to buy all American made products. Yes, I read labels closely.
Maybe this will be a big boost to the microbrewery industry. At least then people will know they are getting a home grown American product. They have always made superior beers anyway.

For Sale: America
Americans are getting sick and tired of sitting idly by and watching as far left socialists sneak in and attempt to take control of their country. America's traditions and values are being sold and replaced with a pile of socialist crap -- but is there anything we can do about it? One caller asks Glenn this very question and gets the answer.
