Coca-Cola - Coke

Everybody is familiar with the drink, Coka-Cola. But did you know it has many other uses apart from being a refreshing drink? Here are some examples,

Clean a toilet bowl.
Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl. Let the real thing sit for one hour, then brush and flush clean. Thecitric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china, according tohousehold-hints columnist Heloise.

Remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers.
Rubbing the bumper with acrumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Colawill help remove rust spots.

Clean corrosion from car battery terminals.
Pour a can of carbonatedCoca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

Cook with Coca-Cola.
The Coca-Cola Consumer Information Center offers a free packet of recipes including a Mustard Herb Dressing (an Italianstyle salad dressing made with one-half cup of Coca-Cola), a Twin CheeseDip (requiring three-quarter cup of Coca-Cola and doubling as a sandwichfilling), and Sweet-Sour Cabbage (using one-half cup of Coca-Cola andtwo tablespoons of bacon drippings).

Loosen a rusted bolt.
Apply a cloth soaked in Coka-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

Bake a moist ham.
Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Cokefor a sumptuous brown gravy.

Remove grease from clothes.
Empty a can of Coke into a load of greasywork clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular wash cycle. TheCoca-Cola will help loosen grease stains.

Yes I was aware of most of those and often wonder if it can cut grease and rust they surely it must cut something inside when you drink it! I am amazed about the addiction to this drink, there are some people that cannot eat without a Coke.

O.K JB, I have conducted some experiments and these are my findings-

a) It does remove rust from chrome more effectively than just using alfoil.

cool.gif It did loosen the bolt but took a longer soaking than a couple of minutes(overnight)

c) My results as to removing grease were inconclusive as I couldn't see any difference in the stain I soaked with Coke compared to the stain that was not soaked.(it seems washing powder is still the best method)

TheDV8 sorry to put you through that extra work man, what I meant was if Coke can clear rust, etc then imagine how it can also eat up your insides when you drink it. However your tests are good for future uses wink.gif

Coke Cola can stain whites. So be careful when you do this. I just wouldn't use it on any light colored clothes.

Another use for cola is as the liquid in frosting. Actually any flavor of soda will work, depending on what flavor you want. I am pretty partial to chocolate frosting with coke cola. But I do like using orange soda in plain frosting on a white cake.

After trying all the other cola's, Coke Cola Classic has the most unique and best flavor, and it has more effervescence than any of the other soda's. That is why I drink soda's, for the effervescence first, then the flavor. When Coke Cola discontinued their original flavor I was one of their customer's who Demanded that they bring it back. That is all I will drink as a cola. Being as poor as I have been the last two years, I hardly drink any soda's anymore. Cost too much.

Have all those tests using Coke Cola been done with other soda's??? Do you think they would have said that? *In comparison tests Coke Cola beats out Pepsi, Dr. Pepper and 7-UP in removing rust from chrome bumpers, and in loosening grease from your husbands cover-alls* grin.gif

While Coca Cola does appear to do some of these things, it is mostly a matter of the carbonated water, along with the mild acids in the pop. Most other types of soda pop do the same things.
