This is the most moronic statement I have heard in a long time. The two methods should not be exclusive but inclusive. A back ground check can only tell us of those who have been convicted or investigated for child molestation any they wish to ignore those who have been charged? Nothing like letting in a known molester to make it easier for them to repeat the offense.


Intuition can not be ignored and neither should a known felon be ignored. If running a back ground check is going to keep you from volunteering I would have to ponder why and then question if you have been very naughty. I get my check done almost every year for some reason or another for volunteer work I think is it great.

When working around mentally challenged or children I just ensure to stick to the buddy rule. I do not go behind closed door one on one but bring another adult or if not an option another child or two. This way one can hope at least one is honest if false charged are levied against you.

I think as laws are passed and parents are found to be abusive after their children take them to court we will be living in a society that we hand over our children to the states to raise. After all we can not be trusted enough to raise our own children. Grounding them is way to harsh a punishment for a child.

The more and more I hear about this and that and the raising or care of children the more I shake my head and am glad mine are all teens now.

Well that is just it KNtoran if we have no authority over those we raise then the role is now reversed and mayhem will rule. Common sense gets lost so fast in political missions.

I worked in child protection for over four years. There were so many times the perpertators got off for lack of evidence or because it was the child's word against theirs. Sometimes it sadly took multiple attempts to prosecute and protect the children from this horrendous abuse. There are countless child child abusers/molesters (2 different things) out there who may have been accused but never charged, or charged but never convicted. Granted there are also innocent people falsely accused. I would rather err on the side of the defenseless child. Common sense and good judgment has to be a factor, but you need the APSIN and court records to base those decisions on or else you are just driving blind.
