KNtoran is right. Not enough time left so why spin wheels and waste more time in Washington than they already do.

Also, never had the votes and still don't to impeach him and remove him, that's why it was never pursued seriously.

However, I am glad Kucinich is keeping the issue in the news. I hope something can be done thru the courts AFTER Bush II is out of office. ninja.gif

Not only is it too late to go after him, contrary to what Mr Bugliosi says...it is anything but a airtight case. He said he would try the case in a US Court, which means that his conviction would be beyond a reasonable doubt. There is no way that you can get a conviction beyond a reasonable doubt. His first statement about WMD's dooms his prosecution immediately. Simply stated, from the first Gulf War, Sadaam Hussien agreed to turn over all information on his chemical weapons in return for a cease fire. If he failed to do so, it is documented that the war would resume as it is only a cease fire and not a peace treaty. Sadaam did not turn over all information, therefore, there still could be chemical weapons. Reasonable doubt...case over.

There is other evidence that could be brought into the trial. The interrogator of Hussien asked Sadaam why he continued to pretend he had nuclear technology. He states that he did it to keep Iran at bey and didnt think the US would go it alone without the UN. A game of chicken, he lost...more reasonable doubt for GWB.

Finally, Bugliosi is charging GWB with the murders of the 4000 soldiers that lost their lives. This means that if any president sends troops to war and knows that some are going to die, they can be charged for murder as it was premeditated. Dangerous pressident set...

We wont even get into the discussion of the key word "lie", which will be impossible for Bugliosi to prove. THis means there was actual deception intended and not just a incompetent reading and interpretation of intel. GOOD LUCK!

The only way he could get a conviction would be at a lower level court where the jury might be emotionally swayed. Go to the Supreme Court, where GWB's lawyers would take it directly anyway, and there is little emotion swaying.

If murder charges are brought against GWB for supposedly lying about weapon of mass destruction, then democrats would have to be his co-conspirators.

Most of the major Democrats have stated that Saddam Husein had these weapons

QUOTE

"Iraq is not the only nation in the world to possess weapons of mass destruction, but it is the only nation with a leader who has used them against his own people." -- Tom Daschle in 1998

QUOTE

"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction." -- Ted Kennedy, September 27, 2002

QUOTE

"I will be voting to give the president of the United States the authority to use force - if necessary - to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security." -- John F. Kerry, Oct 2002

QUOTE

"Iraq made commitments after the Gulf War to completely dismantle all weapons of mass destruction, and unfortunately, Iraq has not lived up to its agreement." -- Barbara Boxer, November 8, 2002

And there are many many more statements supporting the view that Iraq had these weapons

So I say, Bring it on. We should just bring the whole lot of them to court and indict them all, or as I believe, we should go after none of them. They are all equally guilty or equally justified.

You are absolutely correct Bush is far from alone. I think this guy is really just out to make his mark in the world of law.

If he is just out to make his mark in the world of law he is not going to make a very good one. HE will end up being just a smudge on some court house wall.

Here are some things to consider. Add your thoughts.

1. People who believe they have a case can sue Bush for damages in civil court after he leaves office. Wrongful death (parents of soldiers). Torture victims. Invasion of privacy (wire taps). Financial losses (Iraq).

2. Some believe Bush and many admin. members are guilty of international war crimes and could be arrested while out of the country (like Pinochet was in England) and tried in international courts.

3. Bush has the right to pardon a lot of people as he leaves office. Even Clinton pardoned something like 500 people. Bush may even have the right to pardon HIMSELF! (Plus Cheney, Rumsfeld, Condi, etc.).

4. However, he can't pardon himself for international crimes under the jurisdiction of the Int'l court. Maybe he better stay home ?

I say, let the fur fly. Let's try and shed some light on some of his (and his administration's) shenanigans, whether he wins or loses.

The United States can never let other countries have jurisdiction over our leaders. Imagine if in World War II Pres. Roosevelt was subject to murder laws for the killing of Hundreds of thousands in the Dresden bombings.

Once we give up our sovereignty by allowing our leaders to face charges from hostile countries, we might as well let them take over our entire judicial system. Should we let the UN decide how we are going to live in the United States and become our de facto congress? Should we let President of the UN general assembly Miguel d'Escoto Brockmann be our supreme leader in the United States? If we turn the responsibility of judging our leaders to an international court, then that is what would happen. It is the Democratically led Congress's responsibility to bring up impeachment charges if there is enough evidence.

Anyway, the point is mute.
Our leaders are not and never have been subject to international courts, and they never will be(I hope), so no President would have to pardon himself.

Heaven forbid if you and I are ever subject to an international Supreme Court. Freedom as we know it would quickly evaporate

Rather off topic, but...

Where were all you people demanding the head of George Bush When Clinton attacked Iraq and called for the ousting of Saddam?
