What are the laws governing Animal Abuse Cases? In general how are animals treated in Trinidad & Tobago? Does Trinidad & Tobago animal life have natural rights?

In the island where most of the people who live there does not care. I can already tell you that animals receive zero respect and I have witnessed some owners abusing them out of amusement. Of course nobody stops them because they either don't care less or just afraid of what might happen next.

Here is a question for Trinis… which animals do you think should be killed and which should be as pets if all animals are worthy of life?

Someone was asking if there was a time limit on when evidence could be submitted for the T&T animal abuse law cited: Animal Welfare Bill Passed - Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries.

international QUOTE
This Bill also known as the Animal Welfare Bill amends 19 sections of the 65 year old Act and introduces 9 new sections including for the first time specific provisions dealing with Animal Welfare Standards.

The Bill also sets fines up to $200,000 for animal abuse and cruelty and a range of offences related to the proper care and treatment of domestic animals. On the commercial side the Bill introduces specific provisions dealing with meat and animal imports and exports; measures to respond to animal disease outbreaks and manage the business of livestock farming across the country.

This was my response: To answer the original poster that would depend on if the law has a provision for a timeline / expiry. Part of justice also includes the reason for a delay in bringing forth evidence. For instance, are you doing it for revenge or circumstance change? Now, on another note -- As a vegan such laws are like an oxymoron for me. On one hand a law is made about cruelty to animals and yet everyday thousands of animals are reared in the most disgusting of conditions and literally tortured until they end up on the dinner table -- that gets a stamp of approval. Another example are birds which are meant to fly and yet no one sees putting them in a very small cage as barbaric.
