Heroin in Suburbia
Heroin, once thought the plague of inner cities, is increasingly the drug of choice in suburban and rural communities. Teens hooked on prescription drugs like OxyContin are turning to heroin because it's less expensive and more powerful.

It may come as a shock to people, but suburbs hold a great number of clientele to drug dealers. A lot of the time you can look at someone and not even know they have an addiction. There are elementary teachers and soccer moms using heroin, meth, and crack. Police are becoming more aware of this hard drug use though and trying to warn the public. Most of the time users start out in the suburbs but they waste their money until they are forced to move to low income areas that you would normally associate with drug use.
Heroin Use and Overdoses Rise Sharply in the US:
Between 2012 and 2013, the rate of heroin deaths quadrupled in the United States to over 8,257, while the deaths of people from prescription opiate painkiller overdoses was about 16,000 in 2013, according to health officials. Ref. Source 2z
