Some on the Left Now Criticize the Students They Created
In the last few weeks, there has been a spate of columns by writers on the left condemning the left-wing college students who riot, take over university buildings and shout down speakers with whom they differ. These condemnations, coming about 50 years too late, should not be taken seriously. Take New York Times columnist Frank Bruni. His latest column is filled with dismay over the way Middlebury College students attacked Charles Murray and a liberal woman professor who interviewed him (She was injured by the rioters). I have no doubt that Bruni is sincere. However, sincerity is completely… Ref. Source 8r.
I think many of the students who are protesting and getting violent about it should be kicked out of college and then maybe they will understand that life is not fair. Too many people dislike hearing anything that does not agree with them. They have been raised with the fact that a lot of what they do is the correct path. Well not everyone is always correct all the time. It is those who are willing to sit down and talk in a peaceful way to hear the other side of things and to make a informed decision on how your going to go through this life that will be the leaders of tomorrow.
KN,
It's not only that not everyone is correct but sometimes more than one person is correct when it comes to complex things like the economy. Also, these are the kids from the generation that was taught everyone is a winner and there isn't a champion. Well, ask Germany and Japan in WW II if there aren't winners and losers. Giving kids trophies for coming in last place is not good either. All of these ideas come from the most liberal people on the left and they have not been successful nor prepared our kids for the real world.
Agreed but we have not changed from that and still many kids are getting trophies for being a participant in any sport. Many times there are no winners or losers.
In life there is always going to be winners and losers and there are always going to be more than one way of doing something and coming up with the same answers. The goal that many of the leftists have done was to make everyone seem equal. Now that they tried that and failed they are trying to place the blame on the kids. The same kids they told were just good enough are now being told they are failures. This is not sitting well with the kids and they are acting out and protesting big time. They disagree with everyone who tells them they have been wrong and refuse to see that they were never good enough like they think they are.
I hope that many of these kids come to learn that they need to grow up and start to see the world as it really is. Then maybe we can get back to getting this country on the right track.
These are the same kids who demand free education and then don't realize someone has to pay for it. It'll never be free. They are screaming for it now and I think they'd think differently if they were working parents with kids and all of a sudden their taxes rate went from 28% to 58% or from 33% to 75%. They don't understand that there are winners and losers. They don't understand that things cost money. And they don't understand that there are consequences for their decisions. When we tax away everyone's money until only the State has money then the State will have all the power… and what happens when a nut gets in office?
