This case disgusts me for so many reasons. This bastard tortured an 11 months old baby to death! And what happens in the end? Justice is NOT served! Read carefully what his sister said and what the Judge said (All in bold letters).

I hope in that 15 - 30 years he gets to be quite friendly with bubba and his buddies. Maybe he will come to understand, after a few beatings, just what that baby went through. I sure hope someone tells bubba this guy is coming to visit him.
I hope he is well played with in his new home. There is no act more vulgar then abusing a child. I hope they split him wide open so he bleeds for the rest of his stay.
As far as his good manners where they great as he beat the baby? Oh is it ok I hit you *no reply* I guess that means yes. Thank you baby.

In cases like this, where the character witnesses for the defendant are as shocked about the incident as are the victim and relations always leave me wanting to see the psychology report on the defendant. I often desire that a case like this, especially, that this particular piece of information would be released to the public. IF this boy normally was a moral and well mannered person, why did he "flip" in the presence of the infant? There are so many questions the news article does not answer. Was he high on something? Was he unaccustomed to babies and the child cried all night? Did his profile show that secretly he was a pervert and sociopath? He said nothing at his own sentencing, perhaps on the advise of his lawyer. Of course we expect he would say he did not do it ... but what if "HE" actually didn't do it? That he was somehow influenced into this errant behavior? The article said he was alone with the child for two days, but what if he wasn't alone and he's taking the fall for someone of whom he is afraid?
I have had associations with men in prison and unfortunately this boy is not going to find prison easy. His sentence of 15 to 30 means he will be up for parole in 10 years. Inside a prison there are two kinds of people who usually don't get past indoctrination period without being assaulted by the existing inmate population: child molesters and people who molest religious persons. I recall a case from 1974 where a man in New York City had a habit of raping nuns. He was caught and sent to Ryker's Island BEFORE trial. He didn't live to stand trial.
I feel the injustice of his being allowed to live at all after such a brutal way of taking this baby's life but I am also a little shocked at the vehemence of my colleagues on this board in their hatred of the PERSON of this crime. All major religions tell us to hate the actions but remember that the person is a child of god. There just was not enough information in the article for me to develop an opinion of what actually happened and none at all as to why it happened. There is always a why, even if that why is simply that he is a sadistic psychopath, there is SOME kind of why.
That's what I want to know ... why.
