I remember years ago when the interest rate went up, and mortgage costs doubled, if you had budgeted for a set amount, many were horrified to learn that they had to fork out their initial mortgage costs twice over, and many people throughout the UK ended up homeless.
This is one of the reasons why the financiers are being so careful now.
I've heard on the grape vine also, that very soon the high house prices are going to hit a slump, so now would be a good time to sell up, rent for a few months then get a mortgage in a few months at a profit once the house price rise has fallen.
