Abortion Practitioners Storing Dead Babies in Jars Shows Fascination With Death

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Abortion practitioners who have recently come under fire from state health departments for violating health and safety codes have an odd similarity. They both were found, after investigations of their abortion centers, to have kept the bodies of dead babies from abortions stored in jars.

As LifeNews.com reported last week, the Maryland medical licenses of George Shepard, Jr., of Delaware and Nicola I. Riley of Utah, were suspended.

They worked for abortion business owner Steven Chase Brigham who runs abortion centers in four states -- including Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

The Maryland Board of Physicians and Elkton, Maryland police compiled documents unveiling numerous problems and conducted a raid of his Maryland abortion facility. Authorities who raided Brigham's abortion center discovered the remains of 35 late-term aborted babies in jars.

As Matt Archbold, a National Catholic Register columnist, noted in a post today, "This would be a strange and horrible story if it had never happened before. But, just a few months ago, another abortionist, this one in Philadelphia, was discovered to be keeping aborted babies in jars."

In that case, officials investigating an abortion business in Philadelphia after a woman died from a botched legal abortion last November made a grisly discovery. They found dozens of apparently late-term unborn children who were killed in abortions as long as 30 years ago.

The "Shop of Horrors" Case involves the West Philadelphia abortion center Women's Medical Society run by Kermit Gosnell.

State Licensing officials and DEA agents who searched the Women's Medical Society found the dozens of unborn children killed in abortions who were frozen for decades. CBS 3 indicates they are now determining whether or not they may have been victims of illegal late-term abortions. Ref. Source 3

Judge Denies Bail for Abortion Practitioner Gosnell And Staff

Kermit Gosnell was arraigned without bail late Thursday afternoon after charged with eight counts of murder in the death of a woman from a botched abortion and seven babies purposefully born so they could be killed in infanticides shortly thereafter. Gosnell several staffers were arrested overnight on Tuesday after a grand jury indicted them on multiple charges after officials raided his abortion business following the woman's death and discovered a 'shop of horrors" filled with bags of bodies and body parts of deceased unborn children and babies killed in infanticides.

Authorities searching the facility last year found bags and bottles holding aborted babies scattered around the building, jars containing babies" severed feet lining a shelf, as well as filthy, unsanitary furniture and equipment.

Gosnell, who used a method of live birth abortion to birth babies and snap their spinal cords with scissors, was arraigned and held without bail and two of Gosnell's unlicensed and untrained staff, Adrienne Moton and Lynda Williams, who allegedly assisted him in the gruesome killings at his Women's Medical Society abortion business were also arraigned and held without bail.

The grand jury released a 261-page report which said the 69-year-old abortion practitioner and his staff killed hundreds of babies in this manner and killed at least two women and injured many more in failed abortions. Gosnell became known in Philadelphia and the Atlantic region as the guy women should go to if they wanted a late-term abortion illegal in most states.

Other members of Gosnell's stall were given bail amounts, with Tina Baldwin on $150,000 bail, Madline Joe on $250,000 bail, Elizabeth Hampton on $250,000 bail, Eileen O"Neil on $1 million bail, his wife Pearl Gosnell on $1 million and Sherry West on $2 million. Steven Massof has not yet been arraigned, according to NBC Philadelphia. Ref. Source 6

Abortion Industry Forced to Suspend Centers Employing Gosnell

The abortion industry has been forced to suspend two abortion businesses that employed embattled abortion practitioner Kermit Gosnell, who has been the subject of national controversy over his abortion business in Philadelphia.

Gosnell's facility was the subject of a grand jury report for its horrifying conditions and Gosnell and several staffers have been arrested for killing a woman in a botched abortion and seven counts of murder related to the infanticide deaths of babies Gosnell would purposefully birth and kill with medical scissors.

The National Abortion Federation, a trade group which hundreds of affiliated abortion businesses, has been caught up in the controversy because it conducted an inspection of Gosnell's abortion center and found the practices so shoddy it became the first and only abortion center ever not allowed to join. However, NAF failed to notify state or local officials of the massive problems so Gosnell could be held accountable.

Now, following revelations that Gosnell is associated with two other abortion centers in Louisiana and Delaware, NAF has mad the decision to suspend the memberships of both. Atlantic Women's Medical Services, the Delaware abortion business that employed Gosnell one day a week to do abortions, and the Delta Clinic abortion center of Baton Rouge, have both had their memberships suspended. Second Gosnell-Associated Abortion Practitioner Loses License

A second abortion practitioner associated with Kermit Gosnell, the man charged with eight counts of murder for killing a woman in a failed abortion and killing babies in abortion-infanticides, has lost his medical license. Gosnell is the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania abortion business owner who ran one of the most filthy and unregulated abortion centers ever exposed and his shoddy practices resulted in the deaths of and injury to women from botched abortions. He also engaged in a brutal practice of live-birth abortions that saw him purposely prematurely birth babies and, afterwards, he would 'snip" their spinal cords with medical scissors.

Gosnell not only operated in southeast Pennsylvania, but he was employed at the Delaware abortion facility known as Atlantic Women's Medical Services, with offices in Wilmington and Dover, Delaware, where he would work one day per week to do abortions. That abortion center has already come under investigationfrom Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden and reportedly falsified abortion reports to state officials.

Earlier this month, the Board of Medical Licensing and Discipline agreed with a recommendation from Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden to suspend the medical license of Dr. Albert Dworkin.

Dworkin was on the staff of the Women's Medical Society clinic in Philadelphia, the abortion center Gosnell ran and the medical board agreed with Biden that he presented a "clear and present danger" as obstetrician of record at the abortion center.

Late Friday, Biden filed an amended complaint requesting the emergency suspension of Arturo Apolinario's license. Delaware's State Department and the Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline then agreed to suspend Apolinario's license pending a hearing.

Biden's papers say Gosnell would routinely begin illegal late-term abortions at Atlantic that could not be done under Delaware abortion law and then transfer the women to his Philadelphia abortion center. The papers say Apolinario participated in the transfers as medical director of Atlantic's Wilmington abortion business and should have stopped them because of the danger to women. Ref. Source 6

Kermit Gosnell Employees Plead Guilty in Abortion Case

Two staff members at the grisly abortion business in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania pleaded guilty today over their roles in the botched abortion deaths and the abortion-infanticides of dozens of unborn children that took place at the clinic.

Gosnell, his wife, and staff members face various charges - including eight charges for killing a patient in a botched abortion and killing unborn children in the brutal infanticides that saw him stick medical scissors into the backs of unborn children purposefully induced prematurely so he could 'snip" their spinal cords and take their lives.

His wife, who worked at the Women's Medical Society abortion business with him, and staffers also face charges ranging from murder to obstructing justice to practicing medicine without a license.

Today, Adrienne Moton, 34, and Sherry West, 52, are scheduled to plead guilty for contributing to the deaths as they worked at the abortion facility that had not been inspected by state officials in decades.

Moton faces charges of murder, conspiracy, racketeering and corruption related to the death of at least one viable unborn child killed at Gosnell's facility. She was unlicensed by the state and illegally administered anesthesia to women obtaining abortions. West, according to the Philadelphia Daily News, faces charges of third-degree murder in the botched abortion death of 41-year-old Karnamaya Mongar, who died at Gosnell's abortion clinic after a failed abortion.

Moton and West each pleaded guilty to related charges, including taking part in a corrupt organization. West also pleaded guilty to drug delivery causing death. Ref. Source 8

Fourth Defendant to Plead Guilty in Gosnell Abortion Case

A fourth defendant is expected to plead guilty today in the gruesome case involving the botched abortion deaths and the abortion-infanticides of dozens of unborn children that took place at the abortion facility run by Kermit Gosnell.

Today, staffer Steven Massof, who was charged with conspiracy and other charges and was an unlicensed medical school graduate performing medical work at Gosnell's abortion business, will plead guilty to two counts of third-degree murder and other charges. An AP report indicates the murder counts could bring him a mandatory life term, but the judge in the case could suspend or reduce the sentence if he cooperates with authorities prosecuting Gosnell and other staffers. Legislator: Kermit Gosnell Killed My Cousin in Failed Abortion

Last week, when the Pennsylvania state legislature approved a bill that would hold abortion facilities accountable for following basic health and safety standards, a state legislator gave an impassioned plea as to why she supported the bill.

State Rep. Margo L. Davidson, an African-American first term Democratic legislator from Upper Darby explained why she strongly supported the legislation to better monitor abortion centers like the one Kermit Gosnell ran in Philadelphia, even though some Democrats and pro-abortion groups opposed it.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Davidson said her 22-year-old cousin was one of the women Gosnell killed in a failed abortion."

Semika Shaw was "just coming into her own as a young woman," Davidson said, when she died in 2002 from an infection caused by a botched abortion in Gosnell's West Philadelphia clinic.

"I honor her memory by voting for this bill," Davidson told her colleagues Wednesday after the controversial measure was approved. "So women will no longer walk into a licensed health-care facility and be butchered as she was." Ref. Source 6

Abortion Practitioner Charged With Murder Appears in Court

One of the two abortion practitioners charged with murder has appeared in court after having been charged with murder in the deaths of viable unborn children in a two-state operation aimed at avoiding late-term abortion laws.

Steven Chase Brigham and Nicola Irene Riley have been charged with murder related to the deaths of viable babies at an illegal secret abortion clinic that the pair operated in Elkton, Maryland. Brigham is currently in the custody at the Camden County Jail in New Jersey and Riley was arrested and is currently in the custody of the Salt Lake County Jail in Utah. Both are awaiting extradition to Maryland.

Riley made a brief court appearance in Salt Lake City, Utah, yesterday and the hearing was continued until January 9 - when her attorney is expected to ask for bail and extradition back to Maryland to face charges. Riley is currently being held without bail. Her attorneys have stated that they want her released on bail so she can self-surrender to authorities in Maryland. Ref. Source 7
