Before state lawmakers begin tinkering with the way counties levy and assess property taxes, they need to take a deep breath, then wait for the urge to disappear.

Tax bite taking heavy toll in Utah
Utahns may have lost a bundle in the stock market meltdown. Higher gasoline prices drained wallets for months. Now adding to such challenges is that 81 local governments in Utah have imposed property tax increases. News of that is arriving in property tax notices around the state - with some governments tripling rates, or increasing their portion of property taxes by more than $250 on a $250,000 home. Property taxes are due on Nov. 30.

Don't they take enough of our money? It is ridiculous to have to pay for something that we already for daily! This will only make it more difficult for anyone in Utah to secure reasonable living costs because rent and mortgages will go up.
