The latest official count of US service members who have died in the Iraq war is 4,180; in Afghanistan, 610. At Arlington National Cemetery, the nation's preeminent military cemetery, Iraq and Afghanistan veterans are buried in Section 60. A new documentary film follows some of the families that come to visit their graves.

Cremated remains dumped in Arlington landfill:
Records at Arlington National Cemetery suggest that workers found an urn of cremated remains that had been dumped -- presumably accidentally -- in a dirt landfill, reburied those remains as an unknown soldier, and kept the whole thing quiet. Ref. Source 3
