Lightning didn't find the professor's flourish terrible prudent. "You should avoid unnessecary risks, sensei. Should you be captured or worse, it could mean this expedition has been all for naught. I understand your confinement must be vexing, but surely you can see the wisdom in such precautions. I can proceed to the ship and give it a once over, perhaps with my companions."
The professor would sigh, before smiling and saying in an almost longing tone, "True enough, it just frustrates me Ithat I am stuck at the school because of everything going on. An excuse to leave, even if but for a little bit, would be most desired."
The unicorn would look to the three ponies before him before offering on last time to them, going to his desk and opening a drawer. Out would came a small hand mirror, which he would have to Lightening and say, "This will allow us to stay in touch, though there is a limited charge and we would only be able to communicate for about 30 minutes a day. I am working to improve the spell, but such will take time. If you have any question or would like to report please do." Mythos would smile, his disappoint just barely hidden as he pats the stallion on the shoulder.
"So should we head out? I would like to check out the ship as soon as I can," Aquamarine would say, looking ready to leave.
"Yes, we have been here for quite a while haven't we," the unicorn would note, pulling out a pocket watch and checking the time. Leaving them with one last work of advice, be would say, "I offer you begin your journey to the Everfree Forest, to the ruins of an old castle there. You should hopefully find clues there on where to begin seeking the Crucible there. Here is everything I have so far, keep these records safe."
With such Mythos would a bag filled with some books and scrolls, before then sending them all off to prepare to leave.
"Phew… I'm glad it wasn't hard to convince you to not come with us… " Star Walker cringes at his own words. "I mean..um… that came out wrong. Your assistance would be invaluable. I just think that these safety measures are here for a reason. I wouldn't want anything to happen to you, you know."
Star Walker's eyes glaze over as he stares at the bag of scrolls and books. It is almost as if he were mesmerized by it. He then glances between the group. Do you mind if I glance over these," he asks.
Deciding that honesty was the best policy, Zero answers, "I am called Zero Zodiac. I - I don't know my parents and my only family were the ponies at the orphanage, but as you've well noticed, I was getting a bit too old and too costly for them to care for me.
"I'm not sure how to describe it, but I feel an awe watching the vessels moored here and destiny is dragging me to this ship. Evening Dream - I guess it fits with the zodiac theme in my name!
"As for what I can do, I have an excellent pair of eyes and I would love crow's nest duty!"
He looks at the ship to make sure there is such a position he could look out from, or if the balloon itself prevented that design.
"I am also quite smart and know a lot of facts about the world, and I have some affinity for magic! I can pack all my belongings into one pack and be ready to travel with you in just a moment!"
Out of Character: Zero's dialogue was part bluff and part appeal to emotion. I have both Bluff and Diplomacy at +8, would I be able to get away with taking 10? If not feel free to roll for me.
"Well I was not expecting you to agree with the idea," Mythos would say with a small chuckle, before admitting, "Though I did hope you might." It is clear that Mythos was not going to make a big deal about the whole thing, the chance had passed.
Onto the question asked by Star, the unicorn would laugh before saying, "Of course, though don't take too long. You will have plenty of time to go over things once you have set sail."
With such Star would be able to glance over what was in the bag. A few books, one of Equestrian legends, another seeming to be a more religious text involving the royal sisters, and a note book with much of what Mythos had already gathered. For the last, much of it involved what had already been spoken about though there was some riddles and other bits of information that could use some studying by the party.
The scrolls were somewhat diverse, of being a map of Equestria though not the whole of it. Another offered other locations they party could look over, with notes involving such places. Finally, of note, was one scroll which seemed an official looking a document showing that the party was to be allowed on the ship and that they were those so hired to be part of the expedition.

The mare would note, believing the young colts story, even offering a look of sympathy before saying softly, "May Luna guide thee, my she protect." An appropriate statement given how it was common knowledge that the goddess was the patron of orphans and what Zero had said.
Continuing she would say, "Well then, it does seem appropriate for you to be here. Still, I have been given instructions that three spells must be cast on all crew and to sign a few papers. Would that be fine with you?" This did not seem like something Zero could talk he way out of.
Out of Character: Starshield, if you have an idea what you hope Star character might find in the records, let me know and I can perhaps offer something more concrete. I haven't decided yet on what this all will provide the party, though it does lead me to wish I could pass out handouts.
ICon, technically I shouldn't especially since Pathfinder got rid of synergy bonuses Dungeons & Dragons provide for skills… but I will allow it. I find Zero's reply to be appropriately convincing and doable for the situation.
Lastly I provided a map, finally, so make sure to check it out. I will try to offer something more appropriate once the party gets to Ponyville and the Everfree Forest but not sure how I will handle such.

Confident that these would be two spells he already witnessed he would pass without raising suspicion. The third would be something similar, perhaps detection of lies, but with the half-truth already told, that would not be an obstacle either.
"I could do that!" Zero replies with confidence. "No problem! Do you want me to go and bring my belongings first?"
Of course the third spell could be something Zero couldn't face. In that case it would be easier to face by dispelling the magical effect. He had the correct scroll, but it was in his pack.
Out of Character: I didn't mean my previous post in a skill synergy way. Just highlighting that both skills had an equal bonus.
If Lily wanted to cast the spells now, Zero lets it happen with Spellcraft included below.
"Let take care of the spells first, it won't take long," the mare would say, her tone calm yet firm as she had instructions to cast the spells with as little delay as possible and not let those expressing interest in being a member of the crew to wonder off before doing so.
With such, she would look to the young colt and horn aglow cast her spells of which Zero would recognize each. One being a 'detect evil' spell or the same variant used by the mare at the school for showing I'll intent or purpose, and the second an anti-shapeshifter/magical disguise spell..The third seemed to be a spell that detects whether one is enchanted or cursed… which on finishing the final spell left a look of confusion and consideration on the mares face.
After a moment of quiet she says, "Name's Sea Breeze, I run these docks. Personally asked to get this all setup." She offers a hoof and a smile, before pausing to give sharp instruction to those working.
"You, seem to bring something unexpected," she would offer, "You have no ill intent or purpose here, you are not a shapeshifters or magical disguised, and yet the last spell still detected something. The problem is, it can't seem to tell what that is… it can tell that you are not being mind controlled or bond to act against your will though." That last part seemed to suggest the main purpose of the spell.

Star Walker reads a few things, then realizes he's getting engrossed in it. He lightly blushes as he quickly packs the reading material back where it belonged. "Sorry… got a bit carried away. If I keep reading any more, I might forget what I'm doing here! Um… which of us is going to carry this?"
