Trinidad & Tobago Asylum - Insanity
Is the subject of Mental Health in Trinidad & Tobago taboo?
If you mentioned to a local that you are somehow associated with Mental Health in Trinidad & Tobago will that be taken with scorn?
What are the most known Trinidad & Tobago Psychiatric hospitals ?
Handling mentally ill people in Trinidad & Tobago is a serious issue. Sometimes I go to the streets of Port of Spain and spot a vagrant looking person just shouting at everyone and going crazy for no reason. Unfortunately, for many years, the islands only have ONE mental asylum in St.Anns which has been already full. People have already sent requests to the government about constructing and establishing another of these places but it has not been granted as yet.

Title: Mentally disturbed citizens
Comments: After reading the letter in today's Express newspaper entitled 'More than a little bit of madness' I went onto you tube to listen to the calypso 'Welcome to Trinidad 'by David Rudder. Now I think the writer of the letter is correct in his observations. Yes, there must be even more than half of the nation suffering from mental retardation, and of these, in my opinion, a high percentage of our politicians are victims of this brain abnormally by the things they do, their personal attitudes and the examples they set. If the government want to continue to spend money in a willy-nilly manner then I suggest they must start projects on building new mental institutions and prisons to house the mentally ill and our mad murderers.Whatever they do, they must stop buying counterfeit drugs which are only helping to increase more mad citizens in our nation.
