Suspect in UVA student's disappearance in custody in Texas

Charlottesville police officials announced Wednesday evening that Jesse Matthew Jr., the suspect in the disappearance of 18-year-old University of Virginia student Hannah Graham, has been taken into custody in Galveston, Texas. Graham, an 18-year-old in her second year at the University of Virginia, was last seen September 13 in an area of Charlottesville known as the Downtown Mall.

Eleven days later, police in Texas arrested a suspect in the case, Jesse Matthew, 32. Investigators say Matthew is the last person believed to be with Graham. He is now in Virginia, charged with abduction with intent to defile. Ref. CNN

Jesse Matthew, the man accused of kidnapping and murdering two Virginia college students in two separate incidents, is expected to enter a plea agreement in both cases, according to a statement by the Commonwealth's Attorney's office. Matthew is accused of killing Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington in 2009 and University of Virginia student Hannah Graham in 2014. Ref. USAToday.
