Mosquito Attack
The foreclosure crisis that has hit millions of Americans could now cause a public health risk. In California, swimming pools in the backyards of unoccupied homes have become breeding grounds for mosquitoes. The secret weapon in the battle against these West Nile virus-carrying insects could be a 2 ½-inch fish.

Yes the fish might help but uhm so does one cap full of bleach...Call me stupid but it is a secret for killing them for years in my family. For the nay sayers guess what you drink more then that in city water so no it does not hurt the environment.
So for me you still own the property why is no one looking after it? House insurance says some one is to look in on it every x number of days.
I guess that maens the electric has been turned off. Otherwise the water would be circulating through the pumps. If I remember right mosquitos need stagnate water. If the pumps are still going and the water is circulating it can not be stagnate water. Plus the chlorine can a mosquito survive in chlorinated water?
I itch thinking about that one thanks KNtoran, Scabies are not my thing. So they drai the pools cover them and th water sits on the cover bleach that and all is good right.
If is only for a month or so then leave it running on a timer. 2 hours a day will keep chemical in balance if not in a humid area. Pioneer pools did a study on this years ago and in Arizona 2 hour pump time a day was enough to keep the algae at bay and the chemicals balanced. Thus no bugs. Even where it was humid 12 hours was enough to do the trick.
Why are people trying to make this so hard?
