Would there have been a holocaust if every adult Jew had had a firearm?
How would this relate to general Gun ownership in any country?

Good 'What If' Topic and I think that regardless to the number of firearms the Jews had Hitler would of still had his way, he would of just concentrated longer on it as 'internal affairs' and dealt with his enemies in the surrounding countries later.
As for the relation with Gun Control laws we have many Threads about that:

Even if every Jew had a gun the slaughter would have happened and most likely in greater numbers. Every soldier has one order, round them up and ship them out. If they resist kill them. Think of this you are a single person or at best a group of Jewish people now clustered together in the heart of Germany.
With no combat training and only the desire to live how long is this group even of 100 or so going to live? Not long, yes they may die knowing some Germans died also but that is the only difference. If the soldiers ad that happen a few time I be willing to bet they start shooting a lot faster and not bothering to ask many questions. After all they are eliminating the enemy not just a Jewish person.

I do not think the Germans would not have been as ready to follow Chancellor Hitler to the point that they did, if Hitler did not have a defenseless population to blame for all of Germany's woes.
The Jews, if they would have been armed, would have had a better chance of escaping Nazi Germany if they could have fought and fled.
I would have rather had a group of people go down fighting with a Gun in their hand then to have gone into the gas chambers naked.
Jews seem to only have sympathy given to them if they go down without a fight.

I think my heart is with you on that dbackers. the idea of at least having a change to hit back at the enemy appeals to me. I think logic states that they had no chance either way in reality. I am going to look into the boards JB mentioned a bit closer though. I had the understanding that the average German at the time has little or no sympathy to a Jew because they were being pointed at as part of the problem with what was going on in Germany at the time(pre war).
So to me the Jews fighting back would have fueled that hatred and made it even harder to escape.

What if the Jewish community had sufficient military support (bigger guns, better training) and organization? Would any level of strength in the Jewish community made a difference, or was the Nazi Machine unstoppable at that time?

If they had a true militia force then yes I think they could have had a big impact in the German country. Strategic hits plus the rest of the world would have been involved quicker possibly not to mention hard to build a huge war machine when your supply depot and factories are being constantly interrupted.
Many still would have died but the Germans would have felt the impact and might even have fueled the hatred for the Jews.
This is a pretty far extreme from what was.
I also ponder if the Jewish leaders of the time would have declared a war in Gods name to free his people, backed by saying it was a request from God. If that would have spurred them to fight even harder. After all religious believes can be a very strong motivator.
