Smart's sister who did not want to be identified said she was at home sleeping when she received news "after eight" that her brother, nicknamed "Harry" was dead.

"I was told he went to drop off a friend at Mentor Alley and Block 22 when he was shot," Smart's sister said. Stating relatives remain shocked as to the reasons behind her brother's death, She described her brother "as a very quiet person who did not talk much and was also a good father to his two- year-old daughter."
