Sexual misconduct guidelines for police
Police are set to introduce sexual misconduct guidelines after earlier omitting references to sexual behaviour from their code of conduct.

This is something that should have been in place as soon as they first hired a female officer. I know from experience that officers have a unique sense of humor. Being a female officer in among the men it can be pretty rough. Making sure the male officers do not cross the line into sexual misconduct should have been addressed long ago. Having the rules in place would make the conduct of officers more clearly defined.
I am sure many of the males appreciate it as well just to know what the exact rules are. Gives every one a fair and even set of ground rules, my industry has done similar things. Yes there are a few very few ladies out there installing electrical wires and poles.

I agree this is a long over due policy. The issue goes beyond the hiring of female officers. Historically, some men in authority with less than stellar morals and self control have used their perceived power to take sexual advantage of women. Police officers are no exception. Fortunately, most are there to "serve and protect," but there are many who have harassed women and/or forced them to have sex under threat of the badge.
Most professions have written into their ethical code guidelines about sexual improprieties. It is about time law enforcement caught up.
