From what I know, the WHO is a great organization when it comes to the health of the world. It has the best doctors and scholars, I assume, of the time in relation to health issues.

That is correct, the WHO is very much in the know and because they operate from a stand that there is no political influence there is a greater chance that there will not be any biased actions on the part of the WHO. With that said they may not be the best at communicating and handling global pandemics.

The WHO is an authoritative body BUT since they are being funded by key countries I dare to say that they can be influenced by those countries. The WHO is also made up of doctors from specific countries so its not like they are totally apart from the countries they come from.
Concerning their communications. The WHO has been warning us about China for a long time. The only thing they goofed on was the wearing of masks but that may have been purposeful because they wanted to reserve masks for healthcare workers and there was already a shortage in China.

Ah, that is true about the backing of several countries, as that can determine what the WHO does and where it does it. Although, I'd like to think we have some non-political organizations to help us humans. I can see the reasoning behind not speaking about masks when it comes to COVID-19 and China, it's a fine line of walking. Do you tell everything and cause shortages and panic, or do you deal with what you have right in front of you at the moment?
