Music is a language and it does not require you to be fluent in order to understand it.
Music is an art form, for those who perform and those who listen. The style of music can and often does effect the mood, thoughts, and even actions of an individual. A s tempo piece is more likely to calm and even put to sleep an individual. The more fast tempo tends to accelerate the heart and can lead to a serious adrenaline rush.
I personally experience music on several different levels. Most of the time, the first thing I notice is the beat and tempo. After that, comes any chords or measures that I associate with (Normally this happens by me repeating those measures and chords unconsciously). Finally, comes the words and lyrics. Sometimes it is just two of these elements that will embed the music in my mind. If you add in a visual component, then that song is more likely to stay mixed the memory. I even have music that bring back touch and smell memories.
Just saw a brief clip that stated listening to classical music has some definite benefits.
While I can't link the article, I can add the 8 things classical music can help with:
8 Reasons You Should Listen to More Classical Music
1. It makes your brain work better
2. It helps people with dementia
3. It can help you sleep better
4. It can calm you down when driving
5. It can help reduce pain
6. It can help you express your emotions.
7. It can help blood pressure
8. It can help people on diets
Music speaks to your brain in a way that no other sense can especially your subconscious brain that is why when you hear a catchy ad or music clip player you find yourself repeating it even if its not something you will typically listen too. That should say something about the kind of music we use to relax.
