QUOTE PANAMA CITY BEACH — A work dispute might have led to the slaying of a Panama City Beach general contractor on a construction site Tuesday morning. Robert Shawn Ellison, 43, was shot and his body found in the construction office of First Baptist Church of Panama City Beach, where he and his crews had been doing work since February, Panama City Beach Police Chief Robert Harding said. The man suffered several gunshot wounds at about 9:30 a.m., and crews arrived on scene shortly after the slaying, Maj. Dave Humphreys said. The shooting occurred on an active job site in a residential neighborhood and there were many people in the area who have been interviewed by police and able to provide some information, Humphreys said. There were no witnesses to the crime, Harding said. Brad Hasty, superintendent on the job and Ellison’s assistant, said the day started like any other and he was walking around the front of the church toward the office to check in with Ellison when he saw some workers jumping off the trash bin and rushing toward the office. They waved him over to the office, where he saw Ellison on the floor. “I saw blood all over him,” Hasty said. Humphreys declined to say how many gunshot wounds the victim sustained, or in what part of his body he was shot.
