I came across this site through one of my favorite blogs, trying to grok today. I found it to be a profound and moving exploration of the largest accident in history.

That was fascinating. I loved the pictures. I noticed she had a Shoe helmet. Those are really expensive, at least in the states. Very high quality.
She is either very brave or very foolish. I don't think I would want to walk around that area, but I really did enjoy the pictures.
Did you read all of her comments? She is a scientist, her dad was a nuclear physicist involved with Chernobyl. She has special permission to visit the site, and always carries a dosimeter. She said that she stays in the roads and other places where the radiation is low.
She explained quite a lot about the various levels of radiation in different areas. For example, the asphalt apparently doesn't hold any, while wood structures must have soaked it up like sponges.

Yes, I read all of her comments. She said she never leaves the road, but then shows pictures she took in buildings. The readings on her dosimeter were higher than I thought was supposed to be good several times in her pictures. I know what she said about the radiation levels, but I just don't think I would want to take the risk. Of course, I do ride a motorcyle without a helmet, so I guess it is a matter of which risk we choose to take as individuals.
