Persimmon makes 1,100 UK job cuts

UK housebuilder Persimmon says it has shed 1,100 jobs in 2008 as it tries to deal with the housing market downturn.

That is a sign that things are not getting better. Downsizing by letting workers go does not do a lot to help stabilize the downward trend. Now how are these people going to pay for their houses?
