BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) -- Federal prosecutors have filed kidnapping charges that carry the death penalty against a Vermont man whose 12-year-old niece was found dead near his home. Authorities accused Michael Jacques, 42, of carefully orchestrating events and e-mails to make it appear that Brooke Bennett had gone on June 25 to see someone she had met online, according to an affidavit accompanying the charges. Citing statements from another underage girl, prosecutors claim that Jacques tricked Brooke into thinking she was going to a party and instead took her to his home to initiate her into a child sex ring. Michael Desautels, the federal public defender representing Jacques, did not return calls Thursday morning. E-mails quoted in an affidavit released Thursday accuse Jacques of coercing or enlisting the second girl to participate. |
I noticed that the other teen girl has been part of the ring since she was 9 years old and is now 14! I hope that this will blow this operation wide open and these scum bags pay. What is even sadder is the fact that he was related to her! I am wondering how she died, was she not willing to cooperate and he was afraid of her telling on him? Obviously the other girl is still alive.

Yes, I hope this sex ring is blown wide open. Imagine using your own nieces as toys for grown men? What is wrong with some of these people. I hope they find them all and get counseling for the girls involved. The men need to spend some time in jail with Bubba. Let them see how it feels to be used and abused.
They did not release how she died as that is part of the evidence to be used during trial.
The real disgusting thing is that this is just the tip of the iceburg. How many other young girls are living the nightmare because of the depravites of some ... I hesitate to call them men...scumbags is definitely a more accurate description? The death penalty is letting them off easy from what they deserve.

I never believed in the death penalty. It's too easy of a let-off for many offenders. I really think something should be done to end the death penalty everywhere. Let them punish for what they have done. I'm sure 60 years in prison would do them some good.
This is most certainly not any good for the family of the youth that want to see justice served. I hope in the future, these measures aren't re-used.
I can understand your point on the death penalty but some cases need the death penalty. But that is subject for another debate.
I believe and will stand by my words that this guy and the others involved need to be locked up and castrated. Placed in a dark hole to rot. The death penalty here is being much too nice to them.
