Details of mysterious Utah Zika-related death: Transmission by tears or sweat
The first Zika virus-related death in the continental U.S. Occurred in June of this year, but even now, months later, two aspects of this case continue to puzzle health experts. First, why did this patient die? It is quite rare for a Zika infection to cause severe illness in adults, much less death. Second, how did another individual, who visited the first while in the hospital, become ill from Zika? This second patient did not do anything that was known at the time to put people at risk for contracting the virus. Ref. Source 2d.
-In four out of five cases, the Zika virus does not cause so much as a cold, and your body is capable of getting rid of it without any treatment whatsoever in less than a week.
-No causal link between Zika and the child birth defect issues has ever been shown. The virus has been around for over fifty years without such. It is considerably more likely that the spikes in microcephaly cases are linked to heavy increases in the usage of pesticides already known to cause birth defects. In other words, all those devastated mothers can probably thank Monsanto for their troubles
-Discounting for a moment deaths to the same kind of complications we get from normal influenza, the worst Zika has been proven to do is on very very rare occasions induce Guillain-Barre. A rather nasty autoimmune disease, treatable, but not curable.
I wouldn't claim Zika is nothing to worry about, but the level of panic surrounding the disease is ridiculous.
