Most of the rich here in our country are politicians. They may be rich when they entered politics or they got rich being in politics. Several notable rich families including the Ayala's are old families since the time of Spanish colonization when they owned vast areas of lands that they developed and became prime lots (Makati city).
I'm not sure about the statistics but the poor outnumbers the rich greatly. They don't usually flaunt them like publicizing the amount of cars, properties etc since like I said, most are in politics and usually a lot of their wealth is hidden.
