It appears to me that this picture, along with some other related ones, are parodies of the popular series of motivational pictures. Obviously, the message on this one isn't really motivational.

I disagree with this picture. It suggests a loss of personal power in our ability to succeed or fail, by saying that we are fated to one or the other, regardless of our thoughts on the matter. Confidence has great influence in our ability to succeed.
