Jail death from excess water drinking

The death of Ruben Nunez in San Diego’s Central Jail has raised questions about whether staff failed to properly monitor him. He suffered from a psychiatric condition that causes unrelenting thirst. Five days after he arrived, he was dead. Ref. Source 3r.

Intoxication Water Psychogenic

You can't really blame the police for not knowing about a psychiatric condition. I can't imagine the frustration to be thirsty all the time it must have been like hell in his mind.

Psychogenic Water Intoxication Health & Special Psychology

Very strange psychotic disorder. I can't say the police are blameless. When he was detained did he indicate anything or was his behavior irrational? At that point a professional should have been brought in to determine this.
