Brussels Airport to resume limited flights Sunday, CEO says

Brussels Airport will resume a limited number of flights Sunday, the airport's CEO said Saturday. Arnaud Feist said in a news conference that Brussels Airlines, Belgium's leading carrier, would operate three flights: to Faro in Portugal, Turin in Italy and Athens. Faro said he hopes full passenger service will be restored by the end of June or beginning of July. The airport has been closed since the March 22 suicide bombings that killed 16 at the airport and another 16 in the Brussels subway. More than 250 were wounded. Ref. USAToday.

Belgian transport minister resigns after airport security criticized

Belgian Transport Minister Jacqueline Galant resigned Friday, Prime Minister Charles Michel said. It came after a European Union report that criticized security at Brussels Airport was leaked in the wake of last month's terror attacks. Some 32 people died in bombings at the airport and a metro station in the Belgian capital on March 22. Ref. USAToday.
