Assert Failed? Is This A Sound Cad Port Issue?

I have a win 95 typing program my son has used for 3 years. Some reason today it decided to sit out this error

Assert Failed: InonAudio Channels==2

c:src\divcore\plateformwin95\ssoundsystem.cpp line 119

I am on ME on this computer and I am thinking this has to do with the memory allocation of ME is a higher number then the win 95 is there a way to deactivate the sound or manually change where the software can look for the sound channels?

I know little in this area.

Issue Port Cad Sound This Failed Assert

This is a software issue so moved there.

1. Windows 95 program? More than a decade old you say? Trying to work now? That answers a lot there, but let's see what we can do.

2. I have not used ME in awhile, but if you go to the program within its folder and right click on it, then chose to create a shortcut.

3. When the shortcut is created right click on it and then allocate memory by looking for an option for "Compatibility" (that is what it says on XP) or something worded with Memory. Here you can then choose how ME uses memory to run it. Change a few settings and try again.

4. Other option: You can look for what is called an initializing file (.ini) or other file that the program may be using to startup. Create a backup copy. With the original: Delete or change anything with references to the sound. You will need to do that in Notepad, not Wordpad or other word processor.

Hope that helps.

TIP: There are a lot of freeware programs you can try.

Assert Failed? Is This A Sound Cad Port Issue? Gaming Video & Issues Computer

There is a os file I have to post its contents for you. I would not have posted this other then It was working 2 months ago. I might have updated a program or something that caused this conflict. I also run many win 95 98 programs with no problems at all. I am assuming it is just the card slot thing as the file the software seeks obviously does not exist I could not find it at least. I shall pound out the ini file. I do not know why that one slipped my mind as I tweak one at work for our system every so often but that is due to printer changes.

Thanks for those tips, let you know how it worked out. It is a fun program to learn to type on for children. Timon eats bugs with letters on then if you hit the corresponding keys.
