I do have a question regarding Malek for the Dungeon Master: what is your plan for his "Portent" ability? Considering we see all rolls made, including yours, and it says he must use one of his portent rolls before discovering the result of the die roll.
Delgar, I really like your background. Very interesting and gives you a good reason to be there. You and Daishain are very descriptive like the rest of us. Looks to be great fun. I like your wizard's poor social skills and possibly condescending manner. You and Daishain's characters will definitely add a little inter-party tension *smile*. Poor Corren may have his hands full keeping the peace with this group.

As I read it you are replacing an attack roll, saving throw, or ability check made by Malek or any creature that he can see, but he does have to announce this before the roll is made. He will need to tell me of his intent to use one of his portent dice during his post; he cannot replace a dice roll that has already been made.
So Malek should probably go ahead and roll his two d20s and note them in his character sheet, then don't forget that these dice must be used before a roll is made by him or another creature that he can see.
Just a quick question about spell books. I know a spell book has 100 pages, my question is how many pages does a spell take up in your setting? In previous editions its been noted in one of the books but so far I haven't seen anything which doesn't mean its not there *laugh* I've seen it be a d6-1 roll and I've seen the level of the spell is the number of pages it takes up so just curious.
I've never really considered the question of how many pages a spell would take up; I guess it's never come up before in my games. I guess there are a few options though. I don't like the 1d6-1 rule applied to every level of spell because you could potentially wind up with a level 1 spell taking up five pages while a level six spell takes up only one. On the other hand it seems a bit simplistic to say one page per level of the spell; plus that would be a lot of spells that could fit in one book.
The other option is to not really worry about it too much, I haven't really tracked it in the past but if you want to do so then I think you could use whatever system you want within reason.
5E fails to cover that detail so far as I am aware. However, as the cost to copy a spell scales linearly with spell level, one would assume that the page count does as well. Previous editions stuck with the 1 page per Spell Level setup, and I suspect that is what they intended for this edition as well.
However, it has never come up in my games. Until and unless there is reason to track page count, I don't do so when I Dungeon Master. Much like I don't make archers track their ammo until and unless they're in a situation where replenishment is difficult, and how I don't make people keep track of every ounce of weight they carry (At least until they try hauling off a large hoard). It is just simpler to assume the Wizard grabs a larger book, or just an extra one, as he needs it.

I've always liked the book keeping aspect of being a mage and especially with this character who is going to be a book worm type. I even looked at Pathfinder and they do the spell level equals number of pages so I would like to go with that if it's okay, I think it takes away from the book magic item if any spell book can carry tons of spells there has to be a limit somewhere I would think. Thanks for the replies.
