Oops, I meant to change that language prof to something more likely for him to have learned. Guess it is canon now.
In any case, can't edit or post for the moment in the main thread, so I guess just assume he's relaying what he does understand.
Ok, so a couple things before I post again on the main thread.
Is the elf between the orcs and Carrick, or between where he left Corren?
Second, is the elf up in the trees or on the ground and about how far away?
Lastly, does it seem as if the elf is aware of Carrick's presence?
Here is what is in the post, and I think it answers your questions:
Carrick catches a slight movement in the trees out of the corner of his eyes and he studies the treeline intently for several moments before he finds the source of the movement. In the trees between him and the rest of the party an elf is perched on a high branch but interestingly enough the elf does not appear to be watching the orcs. His focus seems to be on the party.
The elf is in the trees and very hard to make out as he blends in fairly well. Carrick has no indication that the elf is aware of him, but he cannot be sure of this or that this elf is not accompanied by others who are aware of Carrick's presence.
The elf is probably seventy five to one hundred yards away from Carrick and is positioned between Carrick and the party, not between Carrick and the orcs.
I'll let Carrick take the lead in determining tactics unless for some reason he can't return to the group in time, but Leo would be looking for any terrain features that Carrick might be able to use in that pursuit. Int/Wisdom (Your choice) check for anything of the sort he observed along the way?

[48hr rule applied] In one moment Carrick sees the elf and the next he seems to almost disappear right before his eyes. Carrick scans the treeline again but he gets caught up doing this and loses track of the orcs just long enough for them to come barreling toward Corren leaving Corren with mere moments before the group bashes through; Corren will need another stealth check to avoid detection; the orcs will be on him the next round!
By now the orcs are making enough of a ruckus though that the remainder of the party is able to recognize that they are indeed moving. With shouts of blood lust the war band surges forward away from the bonfire.
Leo is able to recall a grouping of trees around a large fallen tree that may provide some protection against ranged attack but it is many yards back and it is unlikely that the party will have time to set up a proper ambush (May get a surprise round but are not going to have time to hide well enough that stealth will last more than one round).
As the party is discussing their plans and the orcs begin to approach Zinna feels a sharp [goof] on her neck, bringing her hand up she can feel a needle or dart protruding from her neck (-1hp). Zinna will need to make a DC 12 Constitution save or gain the stunned condition.
I'm going to need initiative rolls from everyone.
