The rapier taken from Adsila is finely crafted and grants a +1 bonus on attack and damage rolls but you do not know if it has magical properties or not at this point.
Yes, Mradoric would be able to get a small plot of land in the forest for his cottage.
Thank you both. I have updated my sheet for the attack and damage bonus (And also my sneak attack increase as well… whew!). Maybe sometime we will run into someone who will tell us if the rapier, and Carrick's bow from Adsila, are magic. I look forward to our next adventure!
Any suggestions from the players on what kind of adventure they would like to see next? I don't want to have a situation where there is an open ended adventure; I would rather have a fairly specific goal for the party that defines the third adventure. We could do a location based adventure or an event based adventure; something to do with the Illiosani or something completely unrelated. Here is one suggestion that we could build an adventure around:
It was no doubt odd for some that despite what had occurred over a year ago in the Cavern of Broken Dreams and the death of Adsila, that the Illiosani remained eerily quiet. Reeve Gant had made a report to his superiors including a request to Warman’s Keep for increased patrols. The Keep was located approximately nine miles north/northeast of Clear Creek, the only military presence of Asendar on this side of the Blue Wall. It housed little more than twenty mounted scouts, but the Lord of the Keep answered Tywin’s call and began pushing the scouts further into the Wilds to give advanced warning of any Illiosani presence.
On the 5th day of Flamerule, an answer. Warman’s mounted soldiers rode slowly into Clear Creek escorting a group of elves carrying a white banner. The scene quickly gathered the attention of the villagers who began to congregate near the village center where the elves had been taken. Moments later Reeve Gant appeared and was seen speaking with the elves and the mounted soldiers.
The elves are escorted out of the village and Tywin calls for the Defenders of Clear Creek to meet him at the jail by the 10th day of Flamerule. Messengers are sent to find the Defenders who are not in the village, like Carrick who may be out hunting or Leo who may be escorting a caravan to Durmista. When they arrive they are given grim news. The Illiosani have given the people of Clear Creek an ultimatum. If they give up Zinna and the other members of the Defenders of Clear Creek the Illiosani will stay their hand, but if they refuse the Illiosani will attack and enslave the entire village. To make matters worse the Illiosani are claiming that they have some sort of powerful ally poised to sweep east and threaten the City of Vollandar.
Again, I am open to other suggestions if anyone has a desire for a particular style of adventure.
I like that Aeric. It makes sense. With Carrick's scouting and the prologue it seems that the Iliosani are not through with Clear Creek. That would be the next logical adventure. It would create some real tension with some in the town probably wanting to give up the Defenders of Clear Creek for safety.
I agree that it sounds like a great adventure! To be honest, it sounds like it could be a very long and involved one, sort of a multi-part tale. Maybe we have to first vanish from Clear Creek to go find out about this "Ally" that threatens Vollendar, and deal with it. If we can do that, then maybe Vollendar will be willing to send troops to help defend Clear Creek, while we go behind enemy lines to disrupt the Illiosani in some way or another. I would be so into that!
The only thing I worry about is on its face, it sounds like a bit much for characters of our level. I trust Aericsteele to keep it scaled so we don't get too badly outgunned. But if he thinks we should have another adventure/level or two under our belts first, I am also game for it being woven through other adventures. Boy oh boy, the possibilities are mind-boggling.
Well, just as a few quick ideas for things the party can focus on
-Determining the nature of these allies and their connection to the Iliosani, this would start off as a fairly simple scouting run, and can easily lead to much greater challenges, even if those are just finding a way to run like hell.
-Finding some means to destabilize said alliance, this could vary wildly from assassination, to deception, to delivering something the Iliosani only promised. Heck, if the allies were duped into it, it might even end up being a quest to prove the truth
-Gathering allies of our own to balance the tide. The obvious answer would be men of the imperium. But those in the party would be rightly wary about getting them too involved even if we could. The less obvious would be approaching the orcs. A dangerous idea in and of itself, not to mention incredibly unpopular, but if the horde's ferocity could be channeled… There might be other possibilities as well, but I'm not aware of any other group in the area not already involved.
-Guerrilla fighting, probably in coordination with elven units, to disrupt supply lines and deplete the enemy's fighting force before it can engage. This kind of action would presumably be against the mysterious allies, as frankly the iliosani are better at that stuff than most of the defenders.
-Finding some item or piece of knowledge that otherwise buys us leverage. What immediately comes to mind is something that can sever the ancestors' link to this plane.
