"This is reckless, but I must admit it looks like that could go a long way in trade for things we could use on missions like this."
"I suggest we assume the room if not the item itself is trapped or cursed in some fashion. Don't touch anything we don't have to, and if we do get the gem, it goes in a bag for someone to assess for hidden magics later on."
Leo spends some time assessing the room from the doorway.
Out of Character: Does anything stand out to him. Also, in the event he can get a strong rope around the upper portion of the staff with the gem such that it would have a long bit of leverage compared to the stress point near the hands, does it appear it could simply be broken off with a sufficient strength check? A couple hundred pounds of force can yield a few thousand PSI in sheer stress that way depending on the thickness of the rod.
Assessing the room from the doorway Leo isn't able to gather much detail about the room or its contents, he is fairly confident though that, while the stone does appear to be sturdy, it may break at the point he is considering if the proper amount of leverage and strength is applied.
"I think we can break off the top of that staff, gem included, while barely touching anything in the room. I'll toss a cloth over the gem to protect it from incidental damage and us from any effects it might hide, double up a rope loop, and tighten it near the top and pull."
"Any objections to this approach?"
I am going to assume that before Leo attempts to break the statue that Corren is going to inspect it first to check for any traps possibly associated with the statute and the gem. So, if I could get a perception check from Corren please.
